Gary Grinberg, MD

While surgical techniques progress and revolutionize, one fundamental truth remains constant: we must treat all patients with respect, dignity, and compassion. This is the foundation of my philosophy. It is an immense privilege and responsibility to have your trust and confidence. We strive for excellence in every aspect of your weight loss journey. Whether learning and perfecting the latest and safest treatment of obesity, the care with which we listen to our patients, or the timeliness of our appointments, all combine to create quality care. To achieve such high quality, I’m not just a surgeon, but treat the whole patient – medically, behaviorally, and surgically. I’m very fortunate to be part of Kaiser Permanente, which embraces these concepts, and supports me and our excellent bariatric team on delivering these fundamentals.

My main focus is developing and delivering the safest and least invasive interventions to combat obesity and diseases linked to obesity. I also specialize in complex minimally invasive and robotic surgeries of the foregut, small and large intestine, and solid organs.

I joined Kaiser Permanente South Sacramento Medical Center in November 2011. Prior to that, I was in private practice for 3 years, specializing in minimally invasive and bariatric surgery.

I feel blessed to have a personally rewarding career. That reward comes from sharing the life-changing events of my patients who succeed in their weight loss journey. Aside from that, my biggest joy is my family, including two amazing daughters, who are growing up way too fast. In addition to English, I speak Russian fluently.
