Fawzi Khayat, MD

I joined Kaiser Permanente because of our shared philosophy. As a Kaiser Permanente physician, I provide high-quality care using up-to-date technology and have my patients’ best interests in mind when making medical decisions. My personal care philosophy is to combine excellent surgical care with a compassionate bedside manner. Everybody deserves to be treated with respect and feel comfortable asking questions about their medical condition. Email has been a great tool to facilitate communication and I use it extensively with my patients.

I perform a wide range of general surgical procedures, but my passion is for laparoscopic bariatric and foregut surgery. With laparoscopy, many of the operations that previously were done through large incisions can now be done through several small, keyhole incisions. This can make recovery faster, with less pain, and often, people are able to get back to their regular lives sooner.

I joined Kaiser Permanente in 2013.

I grew up in the Bay Area and, after being away for 17 years, I am happy to be back in my hometown. In addition to medicine, I like to practice health and fitness by enjoying the myriad of outdoor activities available in the Bay Area. I firmly believe that the foundation of well-being is maintaining a healthy diet.
